History
During the Battle of Britain, Heinz Bar was one of the Luftwaffe’s highest scoring aces with 10 victories. British Spitfires shot down Bar while flying this aircraft, but he was able to recover from enemy lines and later returned to action. He flew from 1939 until the end of the war claiming 220 victories. His last 16 victories were claimed while flying the Me262 jet fighter, making him one of the top scoring pilots of the revolutionary jets.
A few aftermarket parts were used to add more realism to the model airplane, such as the detailed seat and exhaust pipes. The cockpit was artistically airbrushed with RLM 02 Grey, an Oxide Black wash was applied and then dry brushed with light grey to show wear. The exhaust pipes were airbrushed Red Brown, then dry brushed with a Rust colour. Colour scheme is RLM 71 Dark Green and RLM 02 Grey splinter pattern on the upper fuselage, wings and stabilizers. Fuselage sides and all under surfaces are RLM 65 Light Blue. Spinner, engine cowling and rudder are RLM 04 yellow with Semi Gloss Black propeller blades. This is a great looking model of Heinz Bar’s ‘Battle of Britain’ aircraft.
