History
The all-weather multi role F-16 Fighting Falcon was first introduced in December of 1976 and is considered to be one of the most agile and manoeuvrable jets in the world. It is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 1,319 MPH (2,213 km/h, MACH 2) at an altitude of 39,000 feet. Falcon engineers crafted the airplane with a bubble canopy for unobstructed vision and a 30° recline ejection seat to increase pilot comfort and g-force tolerance.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon has a long history of service, participating in several campaigns, including Operation Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. It still remains in service with the USAF, and production continues for export to 25 countries around the world. The F-15 referenced in this airplane model kit, is the single seat “CG Block 40” variant flown by Patrick Miller (89-2003) out of Kunsan Airbase in South Korea.
Academy’s 1/32 airplane model kit was used to create this marvellous jet, which includes a highly detailed Aires resin ejection seat. It was painted Gunship Grey over Medium Grey with a Dark Gull Grey nose. Two Aim-120 missiles, two Aim-9 Sidewinders, two GBU-12s and two 370-gallon Tanks were added as well as photo-etch “Remove Before Flight” tags. This is a great representation of the exceptional F-16 Fighting Falcon. Enjoy the photos.
